Position Details:
We are looking for a skilled data center technician to join our dynamic, talented consulting team to
oversee all current activities and maintain the data center environment and the physical components.
This entry level position consists of offering remote hands assistance to a team of engineers, to
resolve hardware issues, move and/or deploy new systems and achieve any other physical task in
the datacenter.
Primary Tasks and Accountabilities:
* Providing on-site 'hands and eyes' troubleshooting
* Install the equipments (racking and cable management);
* Help test and troubleshoot new server hardware components;
* First tier hardware support, diagnose hardware failures (replace hard drives; replace bad sticks of RAM);
* Network cabling;
* Monitor all physical elements in the datacenter that can affect our daily operations (electricity, cooling, etc.);
* Analyze material resources with engineers for project implementation;
* Communicate with team about bugs or issues found in the equipment;
* Work with the team to document the changes made in the datacenter infrastructure;
* Responsible for receiving, shipping, updating and tracking the inventory;
* Help identify current layout and procedures for adding, removing and relocating items.
* Weekday Shift: Monday – Friday 12 pm to 9 pm.
Qualifications and Key Requirements:
* Post-secondary education with 2 years of server hardware support experience;
* Strong knowledge of computer hardware;
* Some knowledge of Linux, UNIX and Windows;
* Must be comfortable working in and around live servers;
* Experience with fiber and able to make Ethernet cables;
* Experience in a multi-platform server and networking environment;
* Able to lift/move equipment;
* Technical documentation writing is a plus;
* Must be available for rotating shifts to ensure 24x7x365 service;
* Have an interest in emerging technologies;
* Must have a car to commute to both datacenters.
